Lords of the Fallen: A Dark Soulslike Experience for PS5
Tomb Raider 1-3 Remastered: Relive the Classic Adventures of Lara Croft
Sony has unveiled the April lineup for PS Plus Essential subscribers, featuring an expanded selection of games: Lords of the Fallen, Tomb Raider 1-3 Remastered, and Sword Art Online Fractured Daydream. These titles will be available for download from April 7 through May 4.
Lords of the Fallen has received mixed reviews, praised for its meticulous pacing and challenge, yet critiqued for sometimes overly restrictive level designs. For those who missed out on its 2023 release, this is an excellent opportunity to play it for free. Note that this game is exclusively available on PS5.
As we reported earlier, April is proving to be a generous month for PlayStation 5 owners, with several exciting releases.
The third offering is Sword Art Online Fractured Daydream by Dimps and Bandai Namco, a multiplayer action RPG featuring 21 characters from different SAO story arcs, complete with cooperative raids against formidable bosses, appealing primarily to anime series fans.
Subscribers also benefit from online multiplayer access, cloud storage, and discounts in the PlayStation Store. Currently, the PlayStation Store is hosting a spring sale, offering dynamic discounts on AAA titles, making it a great time to complement the free game trio with other purchases.
Leading the lineup is Lords of the Fallen, an action RPG from Hexworks and CI Games, released in 2023. This is a reboot, not to be confused with the 2014 title of the same name. Players assume the role of a Dark Crusader traversing the realms of living and dead to thwart the tyrant Adyr. The gameplay is classic Soulslike, with a dual-world mechanic as its main attraction.
Remember, the March collection—including PGA Tour 2K25, Monster Hunter Rise, Slime Rancher 2, and The Elder Scrolls Online Collection: Gold Road—remains available until April 6. If you haven’t claimed them yet, there’s still time. Compared to March, this April’s PS Plus lineup offers significantly greater gaming value. Subscriptions are priced at $9.99 monthly, $24.99 quarterly, or $79.99 annually.
Rumors suggest that Warhorse Studios is working on a new game, drawing inspiration from titles like Kingdom Come and the “Lord of the Rings” series.
Tomb Raider 1-3 Remastered, from Aspyr and Crystal Dynamics, holds a nostalgic appeal for those who grew up with the 90s classics. The collection brings together the original Lara Croft trilogy with enhanced graphics, optional modernized controls, and the original level designs intact. However, it’s worth noting that it might not pass the PLAY/DON’T PLAY filter for everyone…
