NASA Launches Historic Artemis II Mission for Manned Lunar Journey After Five Decades
On April 1, at 18:24, NASA’s Artemis II mission is set to launch, marking the first crewed lunar mission in 50 years.
The mission aims to test crucial technologies for future human landings on the Moon, support lunar research, and pave the way for further space missions to Mars.
Weather conditions are favorable with an 80% likelihood of a successful launch. Should the launch on April 1 be postponed, NASA has until April 6 to attempt it again.
These developments occur amidst a review of the Artemis program by NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman. Under the revised strategy, the agency has already rescheduled the planned human landing on the Moon to 2028.
The uncrewed Artemis 1 mission, which orbited the Moon, launched in November 2022 as a test flight for subsequent crewed missions. During the forthcoming 10-day Artemis II mission, four astronauts will orbit the Moon and return to Earth. This mission will also serve as the first manned flight of the Orion spacecraft, which is integral to future lunar expeditions.
Originally scheduled for early February, the launch was postponed to March following issues encountered during the dress rehearsal. A further delay occurred 18 days later when engineers discovered a blockage in the helium flow within the rocket’s upper stage, necessitating its removal from the launch pad.
NASA is reassessing the Artemis program, which puts the timeline for returning astronauts to the Moon in question once more.
NASA will provide a live stream of the launch.
The mission will be launched by the SLS rocket, carrying the Orion spacecraft. Aboard Orion, set to orbit the Moon, will be astronauts Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover, Christina Koch, and Canadian astronaut Jeremy Hansen.
The Apollo 17 mission in December 1972 was NASA’s sixth and final human landing on the Moon. The crew of three set records for the longest stay on the lunar surface (75 hours) and the largest amount of soil collected (110 kg).
Notably, Harrison Schmitt, a professional geologist, participated in the mission, exploring the Taurus-Littrow Valley. As Eugene Cernan departed from the Moon, he expressed hope for humanity’s return “in the not-too-distant future,” and to this day, he remains the last person to have walked on the lunar surface.

Sony’s Portable PS6: A Game-Changer with PSSR 3 Technology
According to well-known insider KeplerL2, the anticipated portable version of Sony’s PS6 is set to be an intriguing release, featuring support for PSSR 3 technology.
The insider claims that the upcoming portable console from Sony will surpass the Xbox Series S in both rasterization and ray tracing capabilities. Thanks to PSSR 3, it promises superior image quality compared to the Nintendo Switch 2, which relies on NVIDIA’s DLSS “Light”.
“The Switch 2 only supports DLSS 2 (CNN), with some games using the inferior DLSS Lite variant. In contrast, FSR5/PSSR3 will deliver better image quality than even the current DLSS 4.5,” notes KeplerL2.
He suggests that the next version of the upscaler can elevate the PS6 to an entirely new level. However, the primary concern remains the cost, especially considering the rapid increase in component prices.
Previously, reports indicated that a new Sony patent could reduce PS5 and PS6 game sizes to just 100 MB. According to earlier leaks, the new PS6 is expected to come with a substantial 30 GB of RAM.
Regarding its specifications, the PS6 is rumored to feature 4 Zen 6c cores, 2 Zen 6 LP cores, 16xRDNA 5 CUs, 192-bit LPDDR5X memory at 24 GB, and a chip produced by TSMC utilizing a 3-nm process. For a portable console, these specs are very promising, suggesting significantly better image quality than the Nintendo Switch 2.

The insider highlighted that the GPU slightly outperforms the XSS in raster processing and significantly leads in RT/PT modes, discussing the leaked specs of the PS6, known internally as “Project Canis”.
Sony continues to see strong sales with 92.2 million PlayStation 5 units sold worldwide.

Samsung to Increase Prices for Galaxy Z Fold 7, Flip 7, and S25 Edge Starting April 1
Samsung has announced a price hike for its previous-generation devices, including the Galaxy Z Fold 7, Flip 7, and S25 Edge. According to reports from the South Korean publication Newsway, these price increases are scheduled to take effect on April 1. The unexpected price hike for older-generation devices is attributed to rapidly rising memory chip costs and supply chain disruptions caused by the ongoing conflict between the United States, Israel, and Iran. One unforeseen consequence of this conflict is a global helium shortage, crucial for semiconductor manufacturing due to its role in cryogenic cooling and high-quality purification processes. Until recently, Qatar was a major helium supplier.
