NVIDIA’s Latest Driver Update Sparks Complaints from RTX 50 Series Users
Owners of NVIDIA RTX 50 graphics cards are expressing dissatisfaction with the latest Game Ready driver version 595.71, which appears to limit performance by constraining voltage.
Previously, it was reported that Lenovo and Asus perhaps inadvertently included details about the yet-to-be-announced NVIDIA RTX 5070 mobile 12 GB graphics card in their laptops’ specifications. Recently, NVIDIA has also warned about a shortage of gaming graphics cards and increased prices.
Interestingly, NVIDIA released the 595.71 driver intending to address issues stemming from the earlier 595.59 version, which was optimized for Resident Evil Requiem. However, after the 595.59 release, users experienced display problems with fan functioning, reduced clock speeds, and a significant drop in overall gaming performance. Although the latest driver resolved some previous issues, it introduced new challenges.
Reports have emerged that similar issues are affecting owners of RTX 5090, 4090, RTX 4080 Super, and RTX 4070 Ti Super cards. YouTuber Bang4BuckPC Gamer noted that after updating the driver for his Asus TUF Gaming GeForce RTX 5090 OC Edition, the voltage decreased on both standard and overclocked settings. On standard settings, the voltage was around 1.055–1.060 V, but when the core frequency increased by 150 MHz, the clock speed rose while the voltage dropped to 1.045–1.050 V.
With an overclock of 300 MHz, the voltage further declined to 0.990 V, and the core clock speed remained below 3 GHz. Wccftech conducted tests on the MSI GeForce RTX 5090 SUPRIM X, showing that with the previous driver version and manual overclocking, the card operated between 1.020 V and 1.030 V with core speeds reaching up to 3.03 GHz. The new driver, however, kept the GPU under 3 GHz, with voltage falling to 1.005 V – 1.010 V. Even in standard mode, the card used less voltage compared to the older driver.
It seems plausible that NVIDIA intentionally imposed these limitations to address numerous reports of connector damage. The theoretical aim might be to restrict the maximum voltage flowing through the 16-pin connectors to prevent damage, albeit at the cost of performance reduction.
Among other grievances related to the new driver are screen refresh rate switching, black screens, and TDR-related crashes. While NVIDIA’s release notes for driver 595.71 list fixes for fan data display issues, they do not mention the voltage reduction or increased frequency concerns.

New Apple MacBook Pro with M5 Pro and M5 Max: Enhanced CPU, GPU Performance and Faster SSD
Apple has unveiled its latest MacBook Pro models, featuring the powerful M5 Pro and M5 Max processors. These laptops are available in both 14-inch and 16-inch sizes.
The 16-inch MacBook Pro is equipped with the M5 Pro chip, boasting 18 CPU cores and 20 GPU cores. The same configurations for the M5 Max are also available in the 14-inch version.
According to Apple, the storage in the new MacBook Pro operates twice as fast as the previous generation, reaching speeds up to 14.5 GB/s. This means users not only benefit from increased storage capacity but also enhanced speed. However, these upgrades have resulted in a price increase.
Prices have risen across the entire MacBook Pro lineup. The 14-inch model with the M5 chip, previously starting at $1599, now begins at $1699. In this configuration, users receive a doubled base storage of 1 TB.
The new 14-inch MacBook Pro can be configured with either the M5 Pro or M5 Max chip. The M5 Pro variant offers options of 15 or 18 CPU cores and 16 or 20 GPU cores. Users can choose between 24 or 48 GB of RAM, with the storage starting at 1 TB, up from the previous standard of 512 GB. Those opting for the M5 Max will have 18 CPU cores and options for 32 or 40 GPU cores.
These laptops also feature Apple’s custom N1 chip, offering Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6 support. Apple estimates the MacBook Pro’s battery life to last up to 24 hours, with fast charging capable of reaching 50% in just 30 minutes using a 96W or higher adapter. The device retains the Liquid Retina XDR display (up to 1600 nits HDR, 1000 nits SDR), which has been in use for several years, and now includes a 12-megapixel Center Stage front camera. Additional features include studio-quality microphones and a six-speaker audio system with Spatial Audio support. The laptops run on macOS Tahoe, integrated with Apple Intelligence.
Similarly, the M5 Pro and M5 Max versions see a price rise: the 14-inch M5 Pro model now costs $2199, up from $1999, and the 16-inch version starts at $2699, up from $2499. The standard 16-inch version comes with 24 GB of RAM and 1 TB of storage—double that of the previous generation. The M5 Max option starts with 2 TB of storage and 36 GB of RAM, priced at $3599 for the 14-inch version and $3899 for the 16-inch variant.

Insiders have revealed that the forthcoming Samsung Galaxy S27 Ultra will feature a larger sensor and support for LOFIC in its primary camera.
Previously, it was reported that the Samsung Galaxy S27 Ultra might introduce a new facial recognition system called Polar ID, which utilizes polarized light rather than traditional 3D scanning. Additionally, the Galaxy S27 is expected to come with an aluminum body instead of titanium and a camera with a variable aperture.
In a noteworthy insight from renowned insider Digital Chat Station on Weibo, it’s suggested that the flagship phone will incorporate a camera sensor named ISOCELL HPA. While the resolution will remain the same, the sensor size is set to increase to 1/1.12″, along with LOFIC support. This advanced technology enhances the dynamic range by incorporating a dedicated capacitor within each pixel, improving both bright and dark areas of the image.
